Weezy Baby

Speaking of Weezer, have you heard their new songs? Yikes. I devote a troubling amount of my free time to figuring out what went wrong with this band. Because things went really wrong, you guys. It’s like you hire some company to paint your dining room and it’s so great. You’re hosting mad dinner parties in that dining room because it’s so beautiful. Your friends love it, everyone loves it. You’re not watching TV and you’re not walking the dog because, please, those are not things you can do in the dining room. But then you’re like, okay, enough, I have to sleep at some point. So you hire that same company to paint your bedroom. And they do it in the same color and they use the same types of paintbrushes and it’s most of the same crew using all the same theories of how to paint a room. Except it really sucks and you don’t want to spend any time in that bedroom. And it’s hard to really blame the painters because you can’t figure out where they went wrong! But still, you’re angry because you spent so much money and had such high hopes and you realize that, without question, something definitely went wrong. Maybe it was that Matt Sharp left the painting company after working on the dining room. Who knows. Anyway, read this old interview because it’s super interesting.

i feel largely the same way about weezer, but i still keep hiring them! they are now responsible for the condition of my entire house. that interview is really sad, especially the last section “after pinkerton”. but i think it’s really telling and adds some nice dimension to the band’s history.
as for the comic, i always feel so awkward when people start singing a song in the middle of a conversation, or as a fun time joke. especially when they look you in the eyes or touch you. do they want me to sing with them? cause that’s not gonna happen. D:
that’s always the most awkward time- just the moment when you go out on a limb to mention a song or artist you’re listening to, and the other person says it sucks. They should have an awkward animal just for that particular moment, like a hippo or something
[...] another thing: I realize I have already drawn comics about Weezer and singing in the car, but there is a groove to these journal comics, and I am not in it. But I [...]
